Nothing Terribly Interesting...

But we are alive. And kicking. And biting (specifically Tate). Yes, my adorable son is in a biting stage. He doesn't bite other people, generally, it's more clothes and himself when he's angry, and me if I make myself fresh bait. Hopefully we'll be through this one soon...

We haven't heard anything more about the adoption situation, but your prayer support is much appreciated. Mark and I have a lot of peace that everything will work out the way God's planned, it's just so darned hard to wait.

We've been doing well at the Farmer's Market! We've had a few sales and special orders which has made it all worth it. I've finally started taking pictures of all my stuff, so maybe someday I'll get around to putting it online.

Ok, quiet time is almost over. I need to go grab a drink (water, although Bailey's would be nice:)

Have a great one!

Hard Time

We met with our birthmom today, and it was a very difficult meeting. She said that she really loves us, but she's having second thoughts about the adoption. While I would expect that, and I am sure that everyone does have them, it's still hard to hear. I know that God is huge, bigger than anything, and in complete control of this situation, but it's still hard. I hate the unknown. I hate that I can't do anything. I like to DO stuff, and there's nothing to do. It's going to be the hardest thing in my life if God asks me to let go. I know I can do it if I have to, but I don't want to!

Please pray for wisdom for the birthmom, for her counselor, and for us.

First EVER Contest

Family, Friends and Blog Stalkers,

Here's the deal. When I was pregnant with Tate we had a calendar for people to write what they thought his birth date would be. Kayla Bosma won (I don't know if you know that, friend). Anyway, Sam's due date is the 26th of July, and I want you all to guess when she'll grace us with her presence. Since it's my blog, I'm going first. I am saying the 29th of July.

There is going to be this awesome prize for the winner...a big mention stating you won. Also, I will refer to you as 'Oh Clairvoyant One' and/or 'God's little sister/brother' for at least a week. I know, it's a huge deal.

So, if you want to get in on the fun, just leave a comment saying when you think the big day will be!

Potty Training!

Tate told me he had to go "pee pee" and then went pee pee on the potty today! So exciting. He's gone twice now on the potty, I'm so proud of him!

Still Nesting

The kitchen and bathroom are spotless. It's a great feeling. Now, just the room exchange, reorganizing, and a garage sale. My nephew, Peter, and Mark's mom are staying with us this week so we aren't going to get much more done this week. I'm ok with that. Pete and I are going to do swim lessons and Tate is going to get some one on one time with Nana. It should be fun. Well, I'm off to get ready for the pool. Have a great day!

The little Artist and I decided to do an experiment. We learned today that blue crayon comes off of the window easier than it does the refrigerator. Not that you really needed to know this, but it could always come up on Jeopardy sometime.

Yes, Alex, I'll take "Cleaning up after Toddlers for $400 please."

I was wondering to myself the other day if I am going to go through similar "symptoms" of pregnancy during the adoption, namely nesting. The answer: YES, I am. I got up at 5 am (for reals) and got a work out done (swimming again) and then got right to work. I am aiming to deep clean one room a day, and I am half way done with the kitchen. I'm doing the hardest rooms first, then moving on down the line. I just finished scrubbing our cabinets, and next I'm going to do the fridge and oven. Tomorrow will be the bathroom, then we'll see. Those are the two that really need the attention, and after that it's a toss up.

I also need to go through all of our baby stuff, but I think that will have to happen when we change Tate's room around. The master plan (for now) is to put him in our current guest room and put the baby in his old room. There isn't a really huge difference in the rooms, but Tate is having a hard time napping because his room is so light, and the other room is much darker.

A quick update on the Farmer's was awesome, and a total answer to prayer. We hadn't sold much, and I felt that if we didn't sell anything this week we'd have to scrap the idea because it takes a lot of time and energy. God totally answered affirmatively that we are supposed to continue because we had several sales. I would have been ok with a "no" answer, but I am thrilled that we are going to continue! If you're in Kingston on Saturdays between 9 and 2, drop by!

Oh, I almost forgot. The pics are the mountains this morning when I woke up (the Cascades). Gorgeous!

Love you all!

Mom Fun!

So, my kiddo loves to play with hats. The latest is putting his easter basket on his head over his M's hat. It's so funny that I had to share with you all. I'm off to make Mark a wonderful Father's Day french toast breakfast! Enjoy your Father's Day!

A few pics

In Yosemite, with El Capitan and Yosemite Falls in the background.

In Oregon, on the Willamette River at sunset.

Crater Lake in Oregon.

The whole crew at Cascade Falls in Tahoe.

At Nevada Falls in Yosemite.

I am telling all of you, especially my dear friend Miriam, that you should get to Yosemite at least once in your life. It's indescribable.

Ok, the house is a wreck and I've been avoiding it all morning. Time for me to actually do something. Have a great day!

Back, and better than ever

Stephen, that is.

That's right, Stephen is finally home from Nepal! He had an amazing trip, and God has really been working in his life. I'm so proud of him and the choices that he's making. He's planning on going back to work for the summer, and then who knows? Tate warmed up after about an hour, bringing Steve books to read and following him around trying to give kisses.

Well, I've got to cut this short...Tate needs to go to bed and Mark has a softball game so I have to finish the bedtime routine.

Here's a pic of Steve and Tate today, and I'll try to get some up from vacation tomorrow!

It's Official!

We're having a baby! We were officially chosen yesterday! I am so excited. It was such a great day anyway, and that made it even better. So, here's the skinny:

-Sam's a GIRL!!!!
-Due the 26th of July!
-She's not really going to be named Sam.

I'm not going to write the birthmom's name down here yet because I don't have permission. I will tell you this, though, she is an incredible woman. She is making an incredibly mature decision, and I have a lot of compassion and respect for her. She is also beautiful...I'm sure it could be the pregnancy glow, but I think it's more than that.

Here's a God incidence for you regarding this adoption. I specifically remember the conversation with Mark about our domestic adoption. I was in Guatemala with Tate, and Mark was in Iraq. I was hitting dead end after dead end, and getting so discouraged. Mark said that we really need to consider domestic adoption. I told him that there were tons of people waiting, and it would take a miracle to change my heart because I didn't want to do it, and had been set against it for years (basically a lot of untrue preconceived notions about domestic adoption). I prayed about it all night and woke up with that change of heart. When I told Mark that afternoon, he said, and I quote "We really need to start praying for our birthmom. She's going to be going through a lot of stuff, and she needs to be totally covered in prayer." If you count back from Sam's due date nine months, we started praying for her regularly right around the time she got pregnant. God is soooooo amazing!

We meet again on the 25th of June, so I'll let you know how that all goes. Thanks for all your prayers and support.

PS We are home, and it's so amazing to sleep in our own bed again!

We're on Vacation!

Hi everyone,
We're in CA on vacation. We're in the redwoods now, and we are loving it. We haven't heard any feedback from our meeting, but I will update as soon as we do. Mark and I both felt pretty good about it, but who knows! We're just praying and hoping.

Love you,
